16 juli 1966 – CHINESE MEN hostage HEAVILY INJURED MAN IN HOSPITAL HAGUE

Den Haag – As a Chinese welder (visiting for a conference at the TU Delft) of three high falls out of a window, he was transferred to a hospital. Then four men of the Chinese embassy storming into the hospital and take the man with. He later dies of his injuries. The other men in the group welders, sitting than in the embassy and can not talk to the police. It creates a huge riot, Welders Affaire, the Chinese envoy be expelled.

16 juli 1976 - FIRST NORTH SEA JAZZ FESTIVAL STARTS

The Hague - The Congress is held in The Hague, the first edition of the North Sea Jazz Festival. come first night 5.000 mensen, a figure which the organization is very satisfied with. During the first festival are artists like Count Basie and Ray Charles.

 

16 juli 1993 - LUBBERS longest serving PREMIER OF NETHERLANDS

Den Haag – Dutchman Ruud Lubbers is as of today the longest serving Prime Minister of Netherlands. He breaks the record of Ruijs Bear Broeck, that record on 3.907 days did. Eventually Lubbers keep it full until summer 1994. In total, he was 4.307 day prizes, almost 12 jaar. That record still stands.
