12 oktober 1654 - HUNDREDS DEAD AT Delft thunderclap

Delft – In Delft takes a quarter past ten in the morning an explosion takes place in a warehouse for gunpowder. There are hundreds of people and part of the city is wiped out. In many Dutch cities is then raised money for the Delft population. The reconstruction will take several years.

12 oktober 1970 – VLAARDINGEN suffers POLLUTION; TOWN BEATS ALARM

Rotterdam - By've put a combination of warm weather and a lack of wind along the Waterway burden of massive air pollution. Vlaardingen even closed a school, because students are starting to complain about head- and sore throat. According to media reports, the worst air pollution ever in town. Vlaardingen City Council meets in an emergency session and sounding the alarm. There are also demonstrations of angry Vlaardingers.

12 oktober 1979 - TURKISH AMBASSADOR SON SHOT DEAD IN THE HAGUE

Den Haag – Hague is killed the son of the Turkish ambassador Benler. The attack was claimed by the Justice Commandos for the Genocide of Armenians. It is the second attack in The Hague around embassies. In March, the British ambassador was killed, probably by the IRA.

 

12 oktober 2000 - THREE MAJOR CITIES AGREE TO TAKE DRIVING

Rotterdam / The Hague – Three of the four major cities (A’dam, R'dam and The Hague) Signing agreements with Netelenbosch Minister of Transport and Water on the introduction of road pricing. However, not everyone agrees. The plan for the toll system is in 2001 yet thrown in the trash. (into 2005 reappeared in another form).
