17 mei 1960 - PIRATE TRANSMITTER VERONICA STARTS BROADCASTING

Scheveningen - After some test drives on different frequencies, the first sea transmitter in Dutch radio history starts up 17 mei 1960 with broadcast: Radio Veronica. In the months after the start, Radio Veronica's popularity is growing rapidly.

17 mei 1993 - MAIJ-WEGGEN OVERRATED BY BETUWELIJN PROTEST IN GIESSENBURG

Giessenburg - The protest against the Betuwe line in the Alblasserwaard reaches a climax, when Minister Maij-Weggen of Transport, Public Works and Water Management comes to give text and explanations to the local population. Village house De Til is bursting at the seams, by the rise. The minister is unable to say much, because it is always drowned out by the opponents (and their whistles).
