04 november 1973 - REGION LEAVE THE CAR ON CAR-FREE SUNDAY

Zuid-Holland – In Holland, too, the cars will remain on the side of the road on the first car-free Sunday of 1973. Because of the oil boycott to the Netherlands, the government forbids driving a car. It takes some getting used to, but the Dutch certainly stick to it.

04 november 1980 - COUNTERPARTY PRESENTS POLITICAL PROGRAM RUGOP'81

Den Haag – The two 'politicians' from The Hague, Jacobse and Van Es (Van Kooten and De Bie) present the Rugop'81 party program in Café Corona in The Hague. The two "free boys" immediately let it be known that all journalists are in an eligible position at the party. The Counterparty then becomes very popular in the Netherlands and, according to polls, can even count on seats, even if in reality the party does not participate at all.

04 november 1982 - LUBBERS YOUNGEST PREMIER OF THE NETHERLANDS

The Hague / Rotterdam – Ruud Lubbers (Rotterdam) is appointed Prime Minister of the Netherlands by Queen Beatrix. This makes him the youngest in the Netherlands to ever become prime minister. The Labor Party came out of the elections as the largest, but it soon became clear that the CDA and the VVD would form the cabinet. Lubbers became prime minister, because former Prime Minister Van Agt (also CDA) gave up his place, even though he was the leader in the election.

04 november 1996 - ERASMUS BRIDGE CLOSED DUE TO VIBRATIONS

Rotterdam – Exactly two months after the opening by Queen Beatrix, the Erasmus Bridge will be closed to all traffic. Because of the combination of wind (wind 6) and rain, the trenches of the Erasmus Bridge begin to move. As a result, the bridge "wobbles". Ultimately, the problem is solved with vibration dampers on the cables.

04 november 2009 - LLiNK LOSES SEND LICENSE

Rotterdam – The Rotterdam public channel LLiNK will disappear from the pulbieke system. According to Minister Plasterk, the idealistic broadcaster from the Lloydkwartier has "failed to fulfill its own ambitions". In the years of its existence, the channel was mainly in the news due to administrative quarrels and financial problems. There will be another lawsuit against the revocation of the license, but on 1 september 2010 the transmitter goes black.

04 november 2012 - JOY IN BARENDRIGHT: NO UNDERGROUND CO2 STORAGE

Barendrecht – Great joy in Barendrecht when Minister Verhagen of Economic Affairs announces that a pilot project with the underground storage of CO2 under Barendrecht will not go ahead. The intention was that the old gas field would be filled with CO2, but the populations and the municipality don't like that.
