08 oktober 1971 – DISPUTE HIROHITO VISIT TO ROTTERDAM AND THE HAGUE

Region – The Japanese Emperor Hirohito pays a controversial visit to the Netherlands. He visits the Euromast in Rotterdam and The Hague, among other things. On his way from Schiphol to The Hague, his car is pelted with a thermos at Rijswijk. Hirohito is also almost attacked in Amsterdam.

08 oktober 2001 – SMIT AND MAMMOTH LIGHTS RUSSIAN NUCLEAR SUBmarine

Rotterdam – Recovery companies Mammoet and Smit (Rotterdam) manage to lift the sunken Russian nuclear submarine Kursk from the bottom of the Barents Sea. Never before had such a large object been lifted from the seabed. The Kursk declined in 2000 met 118 people on board.

08 oktober 2008 – Falling down ICESAVE BANK WILL HAVE PROBLEMS FOR MUNICIPALITIES AND SAVERS

Dordrecht/Alphen ad Rijn – If the Icelandic bank IceSave collapses, several municipalities are in trouble, omdat zij geld hadden gestald bij deze bank. De gemeenten Pijnacker-Nootdorp, Dordrecht en Alphen aan den Rijn dreigen samen voor tientallen miljoenen kwijt te raken. Ook 108.000 spaarders hadden geld staan bij IceSave, maar worden grotendeels gecompenseerd door de overheid.
